Uneven Tyre Wear

This tyre is down to the chords which is part of the tyre construction. The owner had not noticed as it was on the inside of the tyre and they had only checked the edges they could see on the outside edge. A ball joint had caused the tyre to wear completely down and through the tyre construction making it very dangerous to drive on and illegal.

Checking your tyres regularly is good practice and if you turn your steering in both directions on full lock, it will allow you to see the complete cross section of the tyre for signs of abnormal wear so any issues can be found early and also saving you money on prematurely worn out tyres. It is also a good idea to check inside and outside edges of rear tyres as well as many vehicles carrying weight can often wear inside edges as well.
